Sam Smith wins Best Original Song Oscar

Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes, the songwriters behind the Spectre theme song "Writing's On The Wall" who picked up a Golden Globe last month, repeated their victory at the Academy Awards last night. The Amy Winehouse documentary Amy won the Documentary Feature and Ennio Morricone earned the Original Score for The Hateful Eight.

The 88th Annual Academy Awards nominations were announced  today and some of the biggest names in pop have scored nods this year! The category for Best Original Song include: Lady Gaga’s "'Til It Happens to You", The Weeknd’s "Earned It", Sam Smith’s "Writing’s On The Wall", J. Ralph and Antony’s "Manta Ray", David Lang’s "Simple Song No. 3". There are also some notables for Best Documentary Feature, like the Amy Winehouse’s Amy and the Nina Simone project What Happened, Miss Simone? Lady Gaga & Sam Smith won a Golden Globe each!

Lady Gaga can add award-winning actress to her resume as she won the Golden Globe for Best Actress In A TV Movie Or Limited Series at this year's Golden Globes in Los Angeles for her performance in American Horror Story: Hotel. Also, Sam Smith’s James Bond theme "Writing’s On The Wall" was named Best Original Song and he shared the prize with long-time collaborator Jimmy Napes. Congratulations to both! Sam Smith’s James Bond theme got its TV debut on The Graham Norton Show. In "Writing's On The Wall" he shows his fragility through notes so high, that he feared not being able to hit them live, but off course he did!

O Sam Smith ερμήνευσε για πρώτη φορά live το μουσικό θέμα της νέας ταινίας James Bond στην εκπομπή The Graham Norton Show. Στο τραγούδι "Writing's On The Wall" δείχνει την πολύ ευαίσθητη πλευρά του με τις πολύ ψηλές νότες του, με φόβο όπως αποκάλυψε πως δεν θα κατάφερνε να πιάσει live, αλλά φυσικά τα κατάφερε.

Sam Smith hints that he recorded the next James Bond theme [update: It's official]

Update: It is official, Sam Smith will release "Writing's On The Wall" on September 25. Can't fucking wait!!

Earlier this summer, Sam Smith denied that he was tapped to sing the theme for the next James Bond movie, Spectre, "People seem to think I’m doing it but I have no idea what’s going on". Today, however, Sam hints that he did the Spectre theme after all by tweeting a photo of his hand wearing a ring with the film’s logo.
