Top 5 (plus one) albums of 2022

2022 was the year of the comeback. As the music industry stumbled out of its pandemic fog, many artists finally delivered long delayed, highly anticipated, and sonically experimental albums that met some of the expectations built up for them. Kendrick Lamar, Santigold, Tove Lo, M.I.A., Björk, FKA twigs, The Weeknd, Charli XCX, Camila Cabello, Meghan Trainor, Rosalía and Carly Rae Jepsen returned with records that were worth the wait.

These are the 5 (plus one) best albums of my choice.

Οι Kendrick Lamar, Santigold, Tove Lo, M.I.A., Björk, FKA twigs, The Weeknd, Charli XCX, Camila Cabello, Meghan Trainor, Rosalía και Carly Rae Jepsen επέστρεψαν με δίσκους που άξιζαν την αναμονή.

Αυτές είναι οι 5 (plus one) επιλογές μου!

5. Bronco by Orville Peck

Orville Peck's sophomore album further cement his status as country’s resident queer outlaw. Bronco is an absolute cult favorite!

4. Harry's House by Harry Styles

More than a decade after becoming an overnight teen idol as part of One Direction, Harry Styles proves just how comfortable he is now as a fully grown pop superstar with this confident and cozy third solo album.

3. Midnights by Taylor Swift

Tay Tay never disappoints. Her tenth album returns to the dazzling synth-pop of records like 1989 and Reputation, with lyrics caught between a love story and a revenge plot. Not that we had any doubts, but after all that time in the music industry, she “can still make the whole place shimmer.”

2. Dance Fever by Florence And The Machine

Pain and euphoria collide on the band's fifth album, as Florence crafts huge choruses to explore her evolving relationship with dance. Dance Fever is the triumphant sound of a singer reborn!

1. Renaissance by Beyoncé

Whenever Beyoncé releases new music, it’s an event. And this summer’s Act 1: Renaissance — her long-awaited seventh solo studio album — was no exception. This time around, Beyoncé set her sights on dance music, infusions of disco, techno and go-go.

plus one. Guitar Songs EP by Billie Eilish

For a songwriter who made her name on lyrics that echos horror-movie dialogues, Eilish has become a realist songwriter of great subtlety, one who makes light work of deep material without ever realizing its huge impact.
