Top 5 (plus 1) albums of 2015

2015 had a lot to offer, music-wise at the very least. Many great albums were released, pop, rock, rap, hip hop. Good efforts from all the music genres in general and I found it quite difficult to choose my very favourite ones. This year’s top 5, plus one, contains five great albums from five extraordinary artists and one compilation, a soundtrack! Check this years Top 5 (plus 1), according to me off course, and have a Merry Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

5. Reality Show by Jazmine Sullivan

It’s Jazmine’s third LP, which she recorded during a hiatus from the music industry, and it is her most mature one yet. "Dumb", "Brand New", "#HoodLove", "Veins", (my very very favourite) "Stupid Girl", "Masterpiece (Mona Lisa)". How come it has received widespread acclaim from critics and still be an underrated effort from a great talent of our times..

4. Beauty Behind the Madness by The Weeknd

The Weeknd turned to mainstream and mainstream adorned him. He is for real one of the biggest artists out right now. The dude with the hair singing 'bout popping pills got the whole world at his feet with this mega hit release which produced two number-one singles. "Real Life", "Losers", "Often", "The Hills", "Can’t Feel My Face", "In The Night", "Prisoner" and the highlights go on and on.

3. How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful by Florence and the Machine

What can I say about this artist or about that album, one word can describe both perfectly, phenomenon! Florence released HBHBHB, three and a half years after the commercially successful second album Ceremonials, and I can assure you that I wrecked the repeat button of my car's CD player. No highlights for this album, cause it is a highlight on its own, just my favourite track "Long & Lost".

2. Honeymoon by Lana Del Rey

Her best one yet! I was 100% sure she could not exceed her debut album, as Lana Del Rey, Born To Die, but Lana proved me wrong. The girl keeps getting better and better. Honeymoon is Lana's fourth studio album and was co-produced by Del Rey alongside longtime collaborators Rick Nowels and Kieron Menzies. "Music To Watch Boys To", "Terrence Loves You", "God Knows I Tried", "High By The Beach", "Freak", "Art Deco", "Religion", "Salvatore", (somebody stop me) and oh boy "The Blackest day"!

1. 25 by Adele

The world was holding its breath for this one! Adele considered quitting the music industry and going out on a positive note, 21. However, she decided to take a hiatus instead and raise her son. We were waiting and waiting - patiently or not - for Adele to release her monster 21 follow-up and the Queen made us all proud! 25 broke all kinds of records, sold and will keep selling millions. 25 consists of 11 beautiful tracks, absolutely no filler..

plus 1. Fifty Shades of Grey: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Fifty Shades of Grey (the movie) was a good two hours being wasted. The soundtrack on the other hand was a pleasure surprise. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and it has sold a total of 763.000 copies in the U.S. alone. The Weeknd did an excellent job, Ellie Goulding as well, there was a "Crazy In Love" 2014 remix, Sia, Jessie Ware, Vaults, Skylar Grey were all featured as well as classics from The Rolling Stones and Frank Sinatra.
